The Hanga SRH Ventures Showcase celebrated innovative contributions to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) in Rwanda and beyond, beginning with an inspiring Innovation Tour. Participants visited BWIZA Health Post, a
community-centered facility leveraging digital technology to enhance healthcare delivery, and Zipline, a global leader in drone-based logistics.
Since launching in Rwanda in 2016, Zipline has transformed access to healthcare by delivering life-saving medical supplies, reducing emissions, and creating economic opportunities. The tour also included visiting the Society for Family Health Rwanda (SFH) and its Blue Room Data Center, a real-time hub optimizing primary healthcare delivery.

On Showcase Day, the Ministry of ICT and Innovation honored 10 exceptional initiatives from across Sub-Saharan Africa, highlighting their groundbreaking work in SRH. Among these was MDFC’s initiative AASAP Finder, a digital telehealth platform dedicated to addressing the barriers to safe abortion access in Rwanda.
AASAP’s representatives from MDFC emphasized its mission to combat maternal mortality caused by unsafe abortions by providing accessible, legal, and nonjudgmental healthcare solutions. Through digital innovation, the platform connects users with safe abortion services while fostering a supportive environment via community awareness campaigns and provider capacity building. The platform’s achievements, widely recognized and featured in prominent media like The New Times, underline its impact on advancing women’s health in Rwanda.
