20th August 2024, MDFC Joined partners in the celebration of International Youth Day, The high-level Youth-Led Meeting on SRH, in collaboration with the National Union of Disability Organizations of Rwanda (NUDOR) focused on addressing gaps, barriers, and challenges in (SRHR) services and policies from a youth
perspective.

Emphasizing Meaningful Youth Engagement (MYE), the event advocated for youth
representation in developing, implementing, and evaluating SRHR policies, especially for those
with intersecting vulnerabilities such as youth with disabilities.

Key discussions highlighted the lack of accessible, youth-friendly SRHR services in rural areas,
cultural and religious barriers, and the absence of youth in decision-making processes. Strategies
and success stories for advocating inclusive SRHR policies promise commitments from
stakeholders to enhance youth engagement, and inclusive and youth-friendly SRHR services,
reinforcing the government’s pledge to involve young people in shaping their future.
